Dear Band Parents—

 

Here’s what happening this week and beyond:

 

  1. The percussion clinic for the 2017-18 season continues this week on Monday, April 24 from 4:30 to 6:28pm.   Other dates include May 1 and May 8.  See Mr. Estep for further details.

 

  1. Color Guard Auditions for the 2017-18 season continue this week on Monday, April 20 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.  Other dates include Monday, May 1 and Thursday, May 5.  The tryouts are on Friday, May 5.  See Ms. Dickens for further details.

 

  1. End of course tests start this Monday, April 24 and go through Thursday, May 4.

 

  1. The fee schedules for Marching Band, Color Guard and Band class, known as Operational Enhancement Obligation (OEOs), for the 2017-18 season are now available. See OEO fee schedule for Marching Band, Color Guard and Band class for further information, which are located on the band website.

  • For Marching Band and Color Guard, there are two separate payment options.
  • Even If you are in band class only, you are still required to pay OEOs, although it is not as much as marching and guard.  This payment is due by Thursday, August 10, 2017.

  1. The first OEO payment for Marching Band is due on Tuesday, April 25.   For students who make guard, it will be due on Monday, May 8.

 

  • Please make your checks payable to JCHSBBA and place it in the lock box in the band room.
  • The OEOs can also be paid with PayPal.  See PayPal instructions included with this newsletter.

 

  1. The Marching band packet for the 2017-18 season is now available. https://gladiatorbands.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/JCHS-Marching-Band-Packet-PDF.pdf   It contains much information and several important dates, so read it carefully!!

 

  • The dates for Pre-camp, Band Camp and post camp practice are included
  • The football games and competition schedule are included.
  • Please note possible changes to the game/competition schedule: 
  1.     The date of the Fulton County Marching Band Exhibition is listed as September 23.  This is not final and may be changed.  As soon as Mr. Estep receives confirmation, he will pass it along to the membership.
  2.     The November 4 football game is scheduled on the same day as our final marching contest.  This is not a conflict, as we can participate in the contest, then travel to the game.  There is also a chance that the game could be on Friday, November 3.  So, keep that date open as well

 

  1. The Permission slip/ Release must be turned in on Tuesday, April 25.  A copy of your insurance card, front and back, must be included with the form.  This form can be found on the website through this link: https://gladiatorbands.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/JCHS-Marching-Band-Packet-PDF.pdf

 

  1. The BCF must be turned in by all returning band students and rising 8th band students on Tuesday, April 25.  This form can be found on the website though this link: https://gladiatorbands.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Band_Commitment_Form.pdf

 

  • The BCF must be filled out in pen and must be LEGIBLE.  (Maybe type it?).
  • The BCF is important because it because it lets us know the number of students in the program for planning purposes.  It gives us contact information so we can keep the members informed of what is going on with the band.

  1. Be sure to check out the JCHS Orchestra concert on Tuesday, April 25 starting at 7:00 PM in which several of our band students perform

 

  1. Dress rehearsal for the band Spring concert will take place on Wednesday, April 26.  The schedule is as follows:

 

  • Wind Ensemble: 3:45pm – 4:50pm
  • Symphonic Band: 4:50pm – 6:00pm

 

  1. The Spring band concert will take place on Thursday, April 27.

 

  • Wind ensemble students must report to the band room at 6:15 pm to practice with the eighth graders.  THIS IS A CHANGE IN NORMAL ROUTINE
  • Symphonic band students must report to the band room at 6:30pm.
  • The concert starts at 7:00pm. This our last chance to see our fabulous seniors perform!!
  • The concert will be livestreamed.  Please let your friends and family from out of the area know.  The link for the performance is:http://www.useducationtv.com/Default.aspx?sid=10420

 

  1. There will be adessert reception following the concert in the auditorium lobby.  Thank you, Stephanie Greene, for agreeing to be our reception coordinator!

 

 

  1. If you are graduating or not returning to the band program next year, consider donating your concert uniform for future generations of band students.  See Theresa Sloman for further details at jchsbba.prez@gmail.com

 

  1. Attention all students: if you want to attend the band banquet in May, you must have paid all OEOs and other band expenses.  If you need further details, contact Elise Hutchins at jchsbba.treasurer@gmail.com

Johns Creek High School Band Program Newsletter—April 16, 2017

Dear Band Parents—

Here’s what happening this week and beyond. There are also numerous documents enclosed with this newsletter.

1. The Drum Major audition clinic for the 2017-18 season take place from Monday, April 17 until Friday, April 21 from 4:00 to 5:00pm. See Mr. Estep for details.

2. Individual interviews for other leadership positions will also be conducted. Students must sign up for a time shot. Please see Mr. Estep for details.

3. The percussion clinic for the 2017-18 season will take place on four consecutive Mondays—April 17, April 24, May 1 and May 8—from 4:30 to 6:28pm. See Mr. Estep for details.

4. Color Guard Auditions for the 2017-18 season will consist of mandatory clinics followed by tryout day. Girls should wear t-shirts and shorts and athletic closed-toed shoes/tennis shoes. Details on fees and the schedule will be handed out at tryouts.

· All times 6-9 PM. Meet in the band room at JCHS.
· Clinics: Monday 4/17, Thursday 4/20, Monday 4/24, Monday 5/1, and Thursday 5/4
· Tryouts Friday 5/5

5. There will be a meeting for rising ninth grade parents and students on Wednesday, April 19 in the band room at 7:00pm. Information regarding the band program and the 2017-18 season will be discussed. If you know any students who will be in our program next year, be sure they are aware of this meeting!!

Congratulations to all the band students who participated in the production of Cinderella, which has been nominated for 11 Shuler awards, including Overall Production nominee and Ensemble nominee. Special congratulations to band student Emma Grace Crumbley who received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress, band student Brennan Blotner who received a nomination on behalf of the Orchestra, and band student Sydney Leffler who received Honorable Mention for technical execution.

17. Congratulations to Lucas Williams who was accepted in the Governor’s Honor Program this summer.
